Maintenance/Custodian Worker

Reports to: Lead Pastor

FLSA Status: Hourly, Part-time

Department: Grounds and Maintenance

Job Summary:

The Custodian/Maintenance Worker will provide general custodial, maintenance and repair duties, clean, and maintain Miami Shores Baptist Church.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All duties and tasks to further the Miami Shore Baptist Church’s (MSBC) religious mission will coincide with published MSBC’s policies and procedures. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs minor repairs and routine maintenance such as repairing of fixtures, replacing light fixtures or unclogging pipes.

  • Inspect and diagnose problems and determine best way to correct them.

  • Plans repair work using blueprints or diagrams.

  • Repairs/paints the windows, doors, floors, woodwork, walls, and other parts of the Church.

  • Ensures heating and cooling systems are operational and reports any deficiencies.

  • Performs general cleaning, janitorial, and maintenance duties in the common areas of the Church building, including the outside hallways.

  • Assists in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, eating areas and maintain the upkeep of buildings and properties.

  • Maintains a neat and orderly custodian’s room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.

  • Assists in examining Church for safety hazards; reports deficiencies to supervisor.

  • Orders supplies from catalogs and storerooms.

  • Washes windows. 

  • Regularly checks the trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all areas of the campus.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma, trade or vocational school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of custodial experience required.

  • Must pass a background check.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret common communications, general church periodicals, procedures, and governmental regulations.

Math Ability:

Ability to apply mathematical concepts and operations to job duties required.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define and solve problems and interpret a variety of instructions.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software, MS Office products; and Internet software.  

Physical Demands:

  • The ability to work a varied schedule.

  • Prolonged periods standing.

  • Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Music Leader/Pastor

Reports to: Lead Pastor

FLSA Status: Part Time (10-15 hours/wk)

Department: Staff Ministry

Job Summary:

The Church covenant between the Music Leader/Pastor and Miami Shores Baptist Church is responsible to bring glory to God through the growth of the Church and the Staff throughout the musical ministry tenure. Being the leader for the congregation, the position of encompasses a whole range of responsibilities. The Music Leader (possibly Pastor) will see to the health and well-being of the congregation through thought-provoking, spiritually uplifting worship experiences, ongoing social activities that promote church and community spirit.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All duties and tasks to further the Miami Shore Baptist Church’s (MSBC) religious mission will coincide with published MSBC’s policies and procedures while seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all things to glorify Christ through His church. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Oversee the planning, coordinating, and scheduling of worship and music for all services and worship rehearsal/practice sessions at MSBC to include Sunday services, weekly practice, and special events.

  • Provide leadership and work in close association with Staff and volunteers encouraging members’ growth and involvement in the life of the Church that increases volunteer engagement.

  • Lead worship in special services as scheduled and planned with other staff members.

  • Evangelize the lost through worship-preaching and personally as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

  • Exercise interpersonal skills and sensitivity in encounters with church members and friends.

  • Attend staff meetings

  • Care for persons with special needs and lead others to be involved in caring ministries.

  • Attend official events of the church and represent the Church in community and denominational activities.

Education/Experience:

BS/BA in Music and three-years plus general Church leadership role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Ability to play the piano is a plus.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex communications, technical/spiritual journals, journals, financial reports, legal documents, general Church and business periodicals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, articles for publication, Church and business correspondence, and procedural instructions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, Church members, regulatory agencies and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to apply mathematical concepts and operations to successfully accomplish job duties required.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where multiple standardization exists. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of complex, technical and spiritual instructions.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software, MS Office products; and Internet software. 

Certificates and Licenses:

Certificate of Ordination a plus for Pastoral position.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Recommends volunteers’ supervisory responsibilities for Music and Worship Ministerial Team in accordance with the Church’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include coordination of activities in planning, assigning, and directing work, gives authority to work independently, sets expectations and monitors delegated activities, while providing regular performance feedback.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the Music Ministry Pastor is regularly required to sing, speak clearly, hear, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Administrative Ministry Assistant

FLSA: Hourly/Full Time


The Administrative Ministry Assistant will perform various administrative, accounting/
bookkeeping, clerical duties and ministerial support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job
successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All duties
and tasks will coincide with policies and procedures. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Produces reports, including monthly and quarterly financial, financial statements, annualgovernment reporting, and preparation of bank deposits as needed.

  • Prepares payroll data for third-party administrator while reconciling payroll reports(deposits, wages, taxes, and 1099s).

  • Enters budget data and adjustments into financial accounting software and reconcilesany differences.

  • Posts, processes, and reconciles all bank statements, receipts, disbursements, invoices,check requests, and Accounts Payable.

  • Maintains insurance policies including worker’s compensation and worker’scompensation’s annual audit.

  • Maintains W-2 forms in employee files, and in separate files, maintains W-4 and I-9forms complying with all applicable federal and state laws.

  • Maintains master calendar and scheduling of events.

  • Prepares agendas, schedules for meetings/events and records and distributes minutesor other records for meetings.

  • Manages all computer-related procedures, including all software and anti-virus programs
    with regular backups.

  • Maintains the website, Internet, social media and various information databases.Welcomes and greets visitors and business contacts.

  • Answers phones, directs calls to appropriate individuals, and prepares messages.

  • Maintains office supplies and coordinates maintenance of office equipment.

  • Copies, sorts, and files records related to office activities, business transactionsgovernment reporting, and other business matters.
